What is Permaculture?

Permaculture is a design and community building philosophy that emphasizes the balance of people care, earth care, and fair share. This means that society, the economy, and the environment can all be healthy and thriving if we focus on them together. According to Guy Baldwin Cortes, "Permaculture is a holistic approach to landscape design and human culture. It is an attempt to integrate several disciplines, including biology, ecology, geography, agriculture, architecture, appropriate technology, gardening and community building."

Permaculture focuses on embracing the edge, and using different components of a challenge to enhance one another. It seeks to reduce waste and promote diversity in thought and action.
